Charlotte's A Cut Above - Royalist

Quote
It’s been revealed that Princess Caroline of Monaco’s daughter has been hired as Editor at large of a green-friendly magazine titled 'Above'.

Ironically, Charlotte Casiraghi’s mother has spent much of the past decade waging a legal war against the excesses of the press, in particular the notoriously uncontrolled - and uncontrollable - European paparazzi.

Nevertheless, Charlotte will now be one of a team at Above striving to land interviews with famous names from the world of eco-friendly fashion, such as Sir Paul’s daughter, Stella McCartney.

Thumbs up good luck 2 her....so proud she's working for a living instead of turning into useless rich socialite.

Good luck to her. I'm glad she's a hard worker, and not idle rich, but I can't help but feel a tinge of jealousy. It must be nice to have family connections to get you jobs. I'm sure she's smart and a hard worker but she's doesn't have much experience to suddenly become an editor. She worked for the Independent for a while, but other than that what work experience does she have? Did she even study journalism or professional writing? I suppose it is partially the economic climate and partially my frustration at my own career situation, but I am so tired of all these people who get plum positions based on nothing mroe than who they are or who they know.

She did, but so did lots of other people. Plus she studied philosophy, not journalism or writing. She's had one internship, which again she probably got through connections, and suddenly that's enough experience to become an editor? I mean, can you honestly see any other young philosophy grad with one short internship being offered an editor position if they didn't have a famous family? I don't mean to be mean spirited, because she doesn't have to work and I think it says something very positive about her that she chooses to, but I wish that hardworking regular people could get some of these breaks every so often.

I get what you mean....but this is not the Guardian or Economist.....no one heard of this paper until her name was attached 2 her....in other words the magazine gets more publicity and $$ out of her being associated with it than she benefits as among 'editors' list.

besides.....she's among 5 editors of a young fashion and business related emerging magazine.....we can feel upset over her accidental birth....but many people get these kind of opportunity due 2 who they are or know....let's wait and see if she proves us right or wrong on her qualification.

I think/hope she'll do well. I've always liked Charlotte.

On the second page of EVER Manifesto, the "Modus Operandi"  states that  "When we have something to say, we will publish a manifesto".  It sounds as if this magazine, while committed to ethically using the environment and encouraging the fashion industry to become "greener" is not committed to a publishing schedule.  The editors of this new magazine have the time to carefully choose and edit their magazine as they feel the need.  When the late John F. Kennedy Jr. launched his "George" political magazine, he had a schedule with all of the headaches, stress and deadlines that come with a monthly publication.  EVER Manifesto will be successful and important for the ecology of the fashion industry.  I do not think that the founders and editors (Founders Alexia Niedzielski, Charlotte Casiraghi, Elizabeth von Guttman, Guest Editor: Franca Sozzani, Associate Editor: Xerxes Cook, Managing Editor: Ben Cobb) have the same difficulties and stresses that monthly publications have.
